About the event
Guest Room invites you to an evening with Cleveland-based interdisciplinary artist and educator Chelsey Farnum, the creative force behind Studiowurk, for the opening of her collage exhibition, "Domesticitus! And other silly notions.” This new series transforms vintage imagery from mid-century advertising and domestic life into playful yet subversive compositions.
Drawing from retro source material, Chelsey rearranges familiar characters—smiling housewives, idealized couples, and icons of masculinity—into surreal and often uncomfortable scenarios. Through humor and visual tension, the works expose the contradictions and social expectations embedded in nostalgic imagery, bringing the subtext of outdated gender roles into sharp focus.
The exhibition will feature framed original collages as well as prints available for purchase.
